Anyone who grew up watching HGTV and PBS programs like This
Old House will be pleased to hear that streaming services now have a plethora
of Home and Garden improvement shows to choose from. In this post I’ll be
looking specifically at Netflix’s selection. Hulu users, stay tuned for my next
installment!
1. Big Dreams, Small Spaces
This series which is hosted by the UK’s
most famous gardener, Monty Don, is both practical and inspiring to your
average homeowner. Monty helps garden enthusiast plot and plan their dream
gardens but the catch is that they all have a very limited space to work with.
Check this one out for some relaxing programing and stay around for the helpful
tidbits of knowledge Monty Don so generously shares.
2. The Great Interior Design Challenge
This is another fun series which originally
aired in the UK. In this program contestants compete to design a similar sized
space based on the owners requests. This is a great show for those interested in
interior design as well as D.I.Y. enthusiasts looking for inspiration!
3. Flee Market Flip
This series may technically fall somewhere
between the realm of home and garden but it’s a addicting series that shows us
how far we can stretch a dollar and make something really unique. Upcycling has
become a bit of a D.I.Y. trend and this program shows us why it can often be
worth the effort.
4.
Tidying Up with Marie Kondo
This series has been all the rage lately so
it might not come as a surprise that it’s on this list. You may feel off put by
someone telling you how to organize your things but trust us, this series is
full of helpful tips that any household can put to use. Come for Marie’s
calming demeanor and stay for home hacks that you’ll be sure to put to good
use!
5.
Cabins in the Wild
My
only issue with this UK based program is that there are only four episodes! In
this 4 part series architects compete to design amazing works of structural art
in some very remote places. At least each episode is close to an hour long!
