Recently I ran into a pretty major issue concerning one of my downtown rental properties. I had just rented out the unit when new construction started across the street on another high density apartment. The issue was simply the noise. Several of my tenants were fed up with the construction noise and were threatening to break their lease. I was at a loss but since the apartments were already in a busy area I considered the possibility of soundproofing. After looking into several options I decided replacing the windows which was probably the most practical and cost effective solution since building a sound barrier was not realistic.
After researching different types of soundproofed windows I decided to use AMSCO’s Serenity Sound Control Windows which were recommended to me through All Purpose Windows and Doors in SLC. All Purpose also did my installation which was great considering I didn’t have the time or the tools to get the job done. I chose mostly horizontal slider windows but it was nice that I was able to do a few picture windows in the living room spaces.
After several months the summer construction continues but my tenants are much happier! These windows really do work and look great. They muffle even the loudest machinery noises to a level that is comfortably tolerable. I’ve also noticed a drop in the buildings total central-air power bill, which is a definite bonus.
I’m very happy with my choice to use AMSCO glass and All Purpose did a great job helping me find what I needed. I highly recommend this product and will definitely consider using it in my other rental property.
