Is there a better season for D.I.Y. projects than winter?
With inevitable indoor time, holiday gifts to give, and general good cheer, we
think not. Here are some ideas for fun and easy winter crafts that can be given
as gifts or used for decorations in you home.
Cross Stitching
This age old hobby is making a come back in a big way.
Homemade gifts are so special and in todays hectic world I think they really
are something to be cherished. There are many free printable cross stich patterns
available online.
String Art
String art is another really awesome craft idea. You’ll just
need some string, a piece of wood or some other hard textile as a backdrop, and
a hammer and nails. Look online for endless ideas involving string art.
Jar Gifts
The humble Mason jar has seemingly endless uses. Have a
famous cookie or cake recipe? Put it in a jar, tie on a bow and include cooking
instructions and you’ve just created a tasty and unique homemade gift. Or you
could fill the jar with whole spices like cinnamon sticks, cloves, and dried
orange peel for a natural winter themed air freshener. There are even more
craft ideas involving mason jars, search mason jar crafts for even more ideas!
Rustic Wood Signs
I love crafts with a rustic feel. Blank wood signs can be
found in all craft stores but keep your eyes open and you might find something
that can be reused or repurposed into a sign. The sign can be anything you
want. Consider a rustic sign with your address or family name or make one as a
gift!
Homemade Wreaths
Homemade wreaths are an easy way to add some Holiday cheer
to your front door. Wreaths can be made from natural materials or faux natural
(found in your craft store) or can be woven from wool, old winter scarves, or other
types of colored yarn.
