Utah is brimming with great winter activities and not all of
them involve snow sports. If you’re looking for a fun activity for the family
this winter look no further! Below is a list of family activities found around
the Salt Lake Valley that don’t involve any direct contact with snow!
The Natural History Museum
Utah’s Natural History Museum is one of the top attractions
in the Salt Lake Valley and for good reason. The museum is packed with great
activities for the entire family! Lot of the exhibits are hands on and show
Utah’s rich natural history dating all the way back to the Mesozoic Era. The
museum also offers four free days a year, two of which are usually in the
winter. Visit their website for more information:
The Clark Planetarium
The Clark Planetarium offers a reprieve from the cold with
amazing visual shows and plenty of free exhibits. I love the Clark Planetarium
because it’s one of the few free educational exhibits in the SLC area. The
shows cost extra but even they are very reasonably priced. This is another
great activity for families looking for an educational and entertaining
experience that is easy to budget in. Visit their website for moreinformation:
Utah Museum of Fine Art
Find your inner artist at Utah’s world class Museum of Fine
Art. This Museum offers free to the public days on the first Wednesday and
third Saturday of each month. With activities for adults and children the Utah
Museum of Fine Art is a must see attraction. Visit their website for moreinformation:
Olympic Park in Park City
Okay, so there’s a chance you might come into contact with some
snow here. But there’s no better way to relive the 2002 Olympics than to visit
the famous site devoted to them. Visit the Alf Engen Ski Museum, the Eccles
Salt Lake 2002 Winter Olympic Games Museum, Discovery Zone, plenty of beautiful
hiking trails and the Mountain Challenge all free of charge. There are several
more activities that require a fee but many of these are definitely worth it.
There’s even a chance to ride the bobsled with training Olympic athletes! Only
recommended for the very brave! Visit their website for more information:
