New Construction
Most homeowners are probably familiar with the term “builders grade.” This term is common jargon in the commercial construction world but the customer can translate this to mean “the cheapest materials available.” Obviously the homeowner doesn’t want cheap materials anywhere near their home, especially used in areas as important to home efficiency as windows. Customers of AMSCO Windows can be rest assured that high-quality products are used in all of their products, even including their budget friendly series’ such as Vista and Studio.
Replacement Windows
There are many reasons to consider replacing old single-pane windows even if they might appear to perform their basic function. Below I’ll list some reasons that don’t involve the neighborhood baseball game…
Energy Efficiency
Perhaps the most important reason to replace old single-pane windows is to save on your energy bill. This was my number one reason for replacing my old single-pane windows in a basement guest bedroom. This room retained very little heat in the winter and sometimes got so cold that I had to place an electric space heater in the room. All of AMSCO’s window lines have great energy saving features such as airtight double-pane glass and CōzE Tint and CōzE HV glass. These replacement windows will give customers beautiful light and optimal energy savings immediately.
Hiring a Contractor
Even the best windows must be properly installed in order to have optimal functionality. This is why selecting a trusted contractor is imperative when deciding to replacement or install new windows. Here are some tips to help the homeowner select the right contractor for the job.
· Make sure that your contractor possesses the correct city, county or regional business licenses to avoid problems with repairs and the post installation warranty.
· Make sure they have proper insurance to protect you and your property in case of an accident.
· Contact your city’s planning commission to obtain any necessary building permits. If this is your contractor’s responsibility, make sure you hold them accountable!
· Look at reviews and ask for customer referrals.
· Set up a timeline for the completion of your project and have it put in writing. This can be done during the estimate phase.
· Make sure to communicate with your contractor and be available if questions arise.
