When to Consider Replacing Your Home Windows

There are different ways to tell if your windows need replacing, however, some are not as noticeable as you may think. Replacing your windows also come with some added benefits such as improving the overall safety of your home, and helping you save money on your energybill by reducing the useof heating and air conditioning.  Here are five signs that your home windows need replacing:
·     Deterioration
Some of the more obvious signs that your windows have some serious damage and needreplacing include rotting frames and warped wood. The most common cause of window damage is condensation, closely followed by poor installation and children playing in the backyard. Condensation can also lead to mold, and since no one wants to deal with a mold infestation, you’re better off having the windows replaced.
·     Poor Operation & Safety
If you need to force or prop your window open, then they definitely need to be replaced. You also need to take your safety into consideration where your home is concerned. UV (ultraviolet) rays are harmful rays from solar radiation and with older windows, it can cause degradation and fadingon things like flooring, couch and more. By replacing your old windows with UV resistant windows, you can reduce the number of UV rays that arecoming into your home.
·     High Energy Bills
Who doesn’t love the feeling of a gentle breeze? But feeling said breeze when your windows are meant to be closed is a no. older homes tend to have single-paned windows which usually leads to leaks and drafts. This can leave you with a rather high energy bill. However, glass panes aren’t the only thing that makesup a window, framing and installation can also affect your window’s performance. Replace your old windows with energy efficient windows and take comfort in the fact that you’re using the very best and you’ll also reduce your energy spending.
·     Aesthetic Appeal & Maintenance
As time goes by, your home will take quite a beating from the elements. Whether it’s a summer rain shower or a winter snowstorm, the fact is that weather can adversely affect your windows both inside and out. Replacing your old windows with new ones not only improves the curb appeal of your home, it also improves the aesthetics which in turn increases the value of your home. Additionally, new windows mean you’ll spend less time on maintenance. The latest window designs make cleaning your windows and easier process. Tilt-in windows, for example, comes with a latchthat makesit possible for you to tilt the window towards you so you can get easy access to the glass.
·     Soundproofing

Some sounds can be soothing to hear at night. The sound of the midnight train as it goes through your neighborhood or that of your neighbor throwing a party isn’t one. Replacing your old windows with dual-pane or even triple-pane windows together with proper installation can go a long way in reducing the noise. This, in turn, will give you the peace and quiet that you’re after.
