Does your home or business property suffer from dripping walls, wet windows or black mold? If yes, then there’s a good chance that you have a condensation problem. Luckily, this is one problem that can be easily solved. Read on to see to tips that can help you stop condensation.
Tip One
Make sure your home is well ventilated by opening windows every day. Also, check to ensure that your window’s drip vents are open so they’ll allow additional airflow that can help combat condensation. If there is condensation on your windows, then it is probably elsewhere on your property too.
Tip Two
Turn the extractor fans on a high power when you’re in the kitchen cooking. This extracts the excess moisture from boiling pots and pans. You can also open up some kitchen windows to provide extra ventilation while cooking. It is always a good idea to leave the extractor fan on for a while longer even after you’re done with the cookingas there may be excess moisture in the air which you don’t notice.
Tip Three
Excess moisture is sure to build up in the air after a long shower or bath. Open bathroom windows and also turn on extractor fans to prevent condensation from forming. Always keep the bathroom shut whenever possible so the moisture doesn’t leak to other parts of the home.
Tip Four
Always dry your clothes outside whenever possible. If you’re unable to do so, then keep them in an enclosed room with the windows open. If you’re using a tumble dryer to dry your clothes, make sure that the ventilation pipes run outside your property.
Tip Five
Try to leave a small gap between your furniture and the walls of your home. This allows the air to move away from the bottom of the walls and circulate well aroundthe room. If the air is allowed to linger between the walls and furniture, it’ll condense onto the walls and can even form black mold.
Tip Six
Clear your property’s airways (such as chimneys and airbricks) so that air can easily flow in and out of your home. Air ventilation is always important in a home as you don’t want that moisture trapped in any part of your home and condensing on your walls.
Tip Seven
During the cooler months and especially inwinter time, you should always try to keep the temperature of your home at a constant. Warm air releases moisture when it comes in contact with cold air. However, if all the temperature is the same, then this cannot happen.
Tip Eight
Make sure that the lids on pot and pans stay on while you’re cooking so the moisture won’t escape from the pans. If the lids are off, then moisture will be able to escape into the air, even if you don’t see it.
Tip Nine
Check to make sure your roof doesn’t have any problems and isn’t leaking water into your home
TipTen
Check drain pipesand guttering to see if there’s any blockage or damage preventing it from carrying water away. If the drainpipes or guttering is blocked, it can cause the external wall to get soaking wet
