Home Power Saving Techniques

Gas prices are high, and it is hard for many families to stop using their vehicles. Although some people have access to public transportation and bicycle paths, some people still have to use their gas-powered vehicle as their main method of transportation. Fortunately, there are many ways to save gas without walking or riding your bike everywhere. Here are some practical and easy fuel saving techniques.
First of all, group your car trips together as much as possible. Designate one day a week as "errand day," and try to get as many errands done on that day as possible. Map out a route that is the shortest possible. Try to avoid optional trips whenever possible. Although you do not want to be trapped in your home, if gas is really breaking your budget, then just stay home more often.
Second, if you are in the market for a new vehicle, buy one that is fuel-efficient. If you life in the city, try a hybrid car. People in the country may benefit from a hybrid as well, even though city driving uses more fuel. The most efficient of the fuel saving techniques is buying the smallest vehicle possible. If you do not have any kids, re think purchasing a giant SUV! If you do have a large family, research large vehicles and purchase one that is the most fuel efficient.
Next, think seriously about your driving techniques. Drive at or below the speed limit, and remember that fuel efficiency decreases greatly at fifty five miles per hour or more. Do not stop or start suddenly. Smoother driving saves fuel. In fact, the driving habits that save fuel are also safer, and that is an added bonus.
Check the inside of your car, including the trunk, for unnecessary items. Any extra items you have in your vehicle take away from the fuel efficiency. This is the easiest of the fuel saving techniques; all you must do is clean out your car! Again, this technique is great for improved safety, too, as extra objects in the car can hurt you and your passengers in the event of a crash.
Taking care of your car will increase its fuel efficiency. If you regularly have your car's oil and filters changed, it will run better. Also, make sure your tire pressure is within the correct limits. Check your owners' manual for this information. Again, these tips are also a matter of safety! Incorrect tire pressure can cause a blowout, which may result in a crash.
As you can see, saving fuel does not have to be painful. There are many easy fuel saving techniques that work. You may find that you and your family are safer in your vehicle, too!

7 Energy Saving Techniques to Cut Your Power Bills by 65 Percent
Many of you must be looking into producing electricity for your own home usage. There are number of ways through which you can generate electricity as an individual.
Additionally, you can play your part towards creating an eco-friendly atmosphere; getting the best of both worlds.
If you want your home to be energy efficient for any season, there are a few simple steps that need to be followed. These are as follows:
Seal Duct Work-
The best way for conserving energy is to seal any duct work around the house. Check all your attics and basements and wherever you find a leak, be it a joint or an intersection, repair it with some strong material like foil-backed tape or silicon caulking.
Checking Your Thermostat-
Keeping the temperature of your thermostat to an average will help conserve a lot of energy. Keep the temperature at 60 degrees when you home alone and 65-70 at any other time. Be sure to turn your thermostat off before you go to bed.
Consequences of the Fireplace-
Fireplaces have always been a romantic and lovely place to sit by and relax. However, people are unaware of the fact that fireplaces can't really heat up a whole house. Cold air can pass through the open flume even though the fire and heat is going upwards. If you have a large fireplace, you ought to find a way to minimize the flow of cold air or simply seal the fireplace area after a while.
Weather Stripping-
All open doors and windows should be checked for incoming and escaping air. Weather striping can assist in sealing these places up. At times you may find that the surroundings of windows start to leak, to counteract any leakage of air or even water, insulate them by using canned foam insulation or plastic window sheets.
Check all Entry Exit points-
The places around plumbing pipes should be sealed up as they are sometimes located near electric outlets and light fixtures. Any insulation material you decide to use for this task, should be strong
Water Heater Temperature should be lowered-
Keeping the water heater at 120 degrees results in the enormous reduction of fuel levels needed to keep the water hot. There is no need for extremely scorching water whatsoever. Also ensure that any pipes coming out of heater are well insulated.
Everything unnecessary should be unplugged-

When you are not using appliances like the TV, Computer, Oven, etc, turn them Off. These low power appliances may drain electricity 24 hours, increasing your utility bill. Get rid of old high power bulbs from your house and purchase energy savers instead. Yes they tend to be expensive but they use less power giving you yearly savings of around $2000 dollars.
