care of them. And like everything else, you can apply those principles to your
windows too! Oftentimes, in home care maintenance, this is something that can
easily be overlooked upon.

every now and then because of molds, termites and other things? They could be
avoided by doing simple maintenance measures to your windows to make its life
span longer.
Here are some tips from AMSCO Windows that we want to share
with you.
Windows Need Cleaning
Too!
When doing your daily, weekly or monthly house cleaning, how
often do you include your windows? We guess, it’s not often, is it?
Windows should be cleaned too. It doesn’t have to be daily,
but at least weekly. Dust, mud and other elements could be stuck in your
windows. This could easily be a good breeding ground for molds, termites and
other elements that could ruin your windows.
You might ask, “What do I use to clean my windows? Do I use
water?”
As much as possible, we would recommend that you do not use
water in cleaning because the moisture can cause rotting in your windows.
To find out what to use for your windows, here’s a list from
AMSCO Windows of cleaners to
use best for your windows.
Windows Inspection
Changing weather and seasons are some of the factors that
can affect the lifespan of your windows. Therefore, we highly recommend that
you would do a thorough inspection of your windows, like the window frame and sash.
So what do you look out for when doing the inspection?
Check for signs of ruins. That sounds so ancient, right?
Well, what you have to look for are signs of moisture in between your window
panes. That is if you have double or triple-paned windows. If you find this, it
may mean that the seal of your window is not functioning properly and needs to
be replaced.
You also have to check if there are parts of the windows
that have become brittle or if termites are starting to colonize your window.
You may also want to look at the paint if there are parts that have peeled off.
Inspecting your window regularly will allow you to detect
any wear-and-tear damages before it gets worse. This will give you a chance to
save your window rather than replacing it again and again.
Repaint and Seal
Do you see gaps around your windows? Are the rubbers still
holding tight or are they on the verge of giving up?
If you see that the seal in your windows are failing,
consider replacing them on the soonest time possible. This will allow a better
ventilation system and prevents unnecessary energy costs for you due to air
passing through the gaps.
Consider repainting your windows every three to four years.
This will help protect your window from elements that can cause damage to it.
Always remember that when repainting your window, clean it
thoroughly before applying the paint. That way, your paint will stick properly
to the window. Also remember not to paint over moving parts, otherwise, your
window will get stuck.
Proper maintenance of your windows is important if you want
to keep it for years. And by doing the tips above, you will enjoy a more
convenient home and keep your windows longer.
